The Winter Garden
A Geisha House in Toshi no Omoidoso, located about a block from The Blooming Rose in the entertainment district. While not as prestigious as its competitor, The Winter Garden welcomes all clients, and features a much more affordable price scheme. The Winter Garden was singled out by Kakita Hojatsu as a potential investment for Daidoji Mizue‘s master to patron, primarily because of the immense talent of it’s top performer, a tremendously gifted singer, Yoko.
During his visit, Shiba Tetsujin-no Sodona also met a young woman by the name of Shitome, whom he found to be unusually gifted in her insight into the teachings of Shinsei. Tetsujin was so appalled at the kharmic tragedy of one so clearly fallen from her rightful station in the Celestial Wheel, that he petitioned for her contract to be purchased by the local Brotherhood of Shinsei. With the help of a sizable donation, and Tetsujin’s hearty recommendation, the brothers agreed to have Shitome tested, and relegated to a local convent where she could more appropriately pursue her study of the tao, with a pledge of continued support from the Phoenix yojimbo.
It turns out that these events were even more fortuitous for the young woman than Tetsujin could possibly have imagined. Shortly after the conclusion of his investigation into the murder of Yoritomo Ogura, the Phoenix yojimbo overheard two patrons of The Laughing Cat lamenting that The Blooming Rose had at long last managed to acquire Yoko’s contract, and without their top performer, The Winter Garden was going to have to close down, and most of its employees were being taken on by a brothel.
